Music Tuition

About Me

Music was always where I felt at home. As a teenager, it gave me the confidence and identity I needed, and that's what I love helping my students find too.

I specialised in voice and flute performance at university, and have since performed with orchestras, choirs and opera companies, including singing at the Proms and recording with the BBC Philharmonic.

For nearly 30 years, I've taught flute and singing to students aged 6 to well into retirement, each with their own reasons for picking up an instrument or finding their voice. It's a genuine privilege to watch their confidence grow along the way.

I work with singers of all levels and styles, from classical opera to musical theatre to rock, whether you're working towards an exam, performance or audition, or simply want to discover your sound.

I also teach music theory and GCSE Music, and support home educating families with structured music provision.

What I offer

Music isn't just about learning to sing or play an instrument. It's about the courage to try something new, the resilience to keep practising when it's hard, and the confidence that comes from real, earned progress. No matter your age, music has a way of showing you what you're capable of.

Singing and Flute Lessons

Tailored tuition for flute and singing, welcoming complete beginners through to advanced players.

For singers, I create a supportive space to learn how to breathe well, use your voice safely, and sing with real confidence.

For flautists, I build tone, technique and musicality step by step, at a pace that suits you.

Music Theory & GCSE Music

Music theory is an important foundation for any young musician, and I offer tuition at all levels, including Grade 5, the prerequisite for higher ABRSM grades.

I also provide specialist support for GCSE Music, covering composition, listening skills and exam preparation, drawing on 30 years of teaching experience to make theory feel accessible rather than dry.

Curriculum Music and Arts Award

I support home educating families in delivering meaningful, structured music provision, tailored to your child's interests and pace.
